Our Fit Mama Challenge participants got to try a bunch of different fitness styles, but learning about a healthy eating lifestyle was on the list of things to do to get fit and healthy!
We met with our partner Dr. Andrea Ryan as she introduced us to the Paleo Diet. Wanting to give her family a healthier diet and lifestayle, Dr. Andrea turned to the Paleo Diet about 3 years ago.
Learning how to eat in a different in way posed a bit of a challenge at first, but jumping in cold turkey helped her family make the transition and they haven't looked back since.
While not all healthy liefestyle changes are for everyone, it's important to learn they WHY for these choices so that you can be informed on the benefits to your general health.
Hearing Dr. Andrea speak, the passion she has for living Paleo and how it has impacted her family was quite intriguing. To learn how she made changes and how easy they were for her and her husband and children made the idea of changing my famlies eating habits a little easier to envision.

Personally, i have always been reluctant to make big changes, especially ones that take some concerted effort in the way I would shop and cook. Easy has always been the best route for us! Having grown up in a family where bread, pasta, and loads of conveneint per-packaged or processed foods were staples, it was a huge eye opener to hear the benefits of moving away from these foods.
While my family has made many changes in our eating habits over the past few years to lessen the amount of processed and pre-packaged foods we eat and have hugely increased the amoung of fresh fruit and veg we consume, we were still far from where this new diet would take us.
We haven't made the jump yet, but definetly have been doing some reading and chatting with the kids about this change.
